The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Therapeutic Home Manager for a new home opening later this year in Northumberland. We are looking for an experienced, committed and creative individual who is interested in developing their career as a manager in therapeutic childcare. This is a uniquely rewarding opportunity for someone looking for a new challenge.

If  you have…

 An interest in working psychodynamically, integrating a therapeutic model within managing  a staff team and providing care and nurture to the children,

A passion for wanting to make a difference and in helping children to achieve and recover from their trauma.

A commitment to continued professional development including training in therapeutic practice to enable psychological recovery of children

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards this qualification.

Most important of all, have the drive, perseverance and vision to succeed in ensuring this home is an outstanding childrens therapeutic care service

This is by no means an easy job, but one which requires hard work and perseverance with a determination to make a lasting and meaningful difference in the lives of young people.

Registered manager’s role:

As Registered Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of therapeutic care and nurture to the children and that good parental care is modelled. You will work alongside the psychologist to continue the therapeutic work the organisation are doing with current residents.

To ensure deputies, seniors and all residential practitioners are focused on providing consistent standards in line with the Therapeutic Parenting model.

Promote  therapeutic relationships between staff and young people

Devising and implementing policies and procedures and recording systems for the effective running of the home

Ensuring that all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities in relation to Children’s Regulations and The Quality Standards and how to implement these into every day practice.

  • Managing and vetting referrals received to the home
  • Completing weekly manager audits of the home
  • Recruiting and interviewing new members of staff
  • Ensuring compliance is maintained in conjunction with the Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted  inspections
  • Organising and chairing staff meetings
  • Compiling staff rotas to meet the needs of the children in the home
  • Supervision of staff
  • Managing the homes financial budget

Salary: Negotiable dependent upon experience. Relocation package available.
